WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

NRR was founded in 1983 by a handful of rowing enthusiasts in an array of singles and doubles which they owned individually and carted down to public launch sites on the Navesink River.  Their numbers grew gradually over the next fifteen years, then dramatically increased beginning in 1999.

Over the years, NRR has introduced hundreds of men and women to the skills, health benefits, teamwork, dedication and discipline that make rowing  an exceptional - and lifelong - form of exercise and recreation.  Our rowers range in age from 14 to over 80.  

We row on the Navesink River in Monmouth County, NJ, and launch from a modest site at the end of Maple Avenue in Red Bank where we keep single shells, doubles, and quads for our members to row during a season that starts on May 1 and continues through early November. 

NRR offers lessons, coaching and summer youth programs in June, July and early August. We also maintain rack space for privately owned singles.

Although some programs do have age restrictions and enrollment in others may be limited due to availability of equipment or personnel, there is no residency requirement, and NRR does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin. Anyone who supplies the information requested on our application, agrees to the terms on our waiver, pays applicable fees, and adheres to the rules and policies of the organization is welcome.

NRR and its small seasonal staff rely on the talent, energy, inspiration and contributions of its members to  keep the organization and its programs running safely and smoothly.
